I would love to explain the creative behind our album cover and title.
It’s been a ten-year journey for us as Mi Casa … I met Mo-T and Dr Duda 10 years ago around November 2010 … the JOURNEY is the key point I wanted to highlight with the cover. This is why you see us travelling out of the earth to a far distant planet to resemble the journey together …
The Earth behind us not only resembles where we come from as a people, BUT if you remember the first album it was the 3 of us with this illustration of the African Map. So not only does it resemble our heritage but also to pay tribute to our beginnings.
The colors and styling was really important. Musically we removed ourselves from all boxes, tried to remove ourselves from all familiarity, and the styling and colors depict this sense of futuristic thinking and a serious jump out of comfort zones. They also further enforce how we feel, the feeling of how far we’ve come and how we have remained the same but things change and times evolve.
The car on the planet we on is how we travelled, depicting the many tours we’ve had but also paying tribute to how far we’ve come as humanity that we even launching cars into space.
The MANY stars in the sky resemble the lineage of artists that have come before us to establish the way so that we can be doing what we doing. The artists that fought for the ability to express … in those many stars we also saw YOU, the real stars, the supporters of music. We hope each one of you can find yourselves in one of those stars because to us you are our stars.
Myself and Kgabo Legora brainstormed all of this and I tasked him to bring this to life and boy what a job he did. Together with the A TEAM Austin Malema on the camera and Boogy Maboi on the styling, we could not have asked for a better product to work with. It was then handed over to Bruno Fonseca (the sibling who I am slightly more handsome than) who really brought it to life on a whole new level by creating all the graphics and design around the photo by adding all the 3D elements and bringing the vision to life.
As the head of creative for Mi Casa I could not be more proud of the final product! Thank you TEAM! #WeMadeIt
