J’Something X UCOOK

This July and August, dinner-kit delivery service UCOOK and award-winning musician, author of Something’s Cooking, and judge on My Kitchen Rules SA, J'Something, team up to deliver a four-week food experience available for order on ucook.co.za.

This collaboration is an exciting journey through J’s Portuguese heritage, favourite flavours and love for family and friends. Each week, UCOOK is giving you a glimpse into when his food journey began, how he’s been influenced by traditional recipes, and why sharing is at the heart of cooking. Now you can learn to cook J’Something’s favourite modern Portuguese and locally inspired dishes, straight from his kitchen to yours.

The J’Something UCOOK collaboration kicks off on 11 July 2018 and runs for a period of 4 weeks. J’Something has offered thirteen incredible recipes, which have all been remixed with UCOOK’s commitment to seasonal local produce and simple cooking.

UCOOK subscribers can look forward to mastering meals like Bifanas, Caldo Verde Soup, Piri Piri Chicken, Beef Steak Bitoque, Rainbow Trout, J’s Spaghetti Bolognaise, Black Bean Tacos and more. You can choose three recipes a week and enjoy delivery of everything you need to cook J’s dishes the following Sunday or Monday, depending on your preference.

Fans also have the opportunity to cook along in real time with J on Facebook and Instagram on 23 July, and listen to a specially curated UCOOK x J’Something playlist on jsomething.com while they prepare his meals. UCOOK is also giving away his new cookbook, Something’s Cooking, to lucky home chefs who share their UCOOK experience.

UCOOK co-founder Christopher Verster-Cohen says that this is the first collaboration they’ve undertaken with a South African music personality. “We’re excited to bring our customers a selection of dishes from someone who is as talented in the kitchen as he is on stage behind a microphone.” Verster-Cohen says that UCOOK subscribers can look forward to a mash-up of Portuguese and South African dishes that are delicious and best shared with friends and family.

J’Something says that it’s been a fun experience working with the UCOOK team. “It’s fantastic to take my recipes and package them in this way, and then think about them being created in kitchens around South Africa. It’s a real compliment! ”

“The idea behind UCOOK has always been to give people inspiration in the kitchen without the hassle of having to shop, portion the ingredients and find a recipe worth creating. We take the thinking work out of preparing and cooking incredible meals. Letting fans of UCOOK learn to prepare J’Something’s recipes gives them a taste of his talents in their own home,” says Verster-Cohen.
